i have a 2001 chevy and i've been having problems with it ever since they went to puttin 10% in the gas... sometimes the truck doesn't wanna crank it start up idle for a few seconds a cut off but if you crank it up and hit the gas it will stay running as long as you push the accelerator.. come to a stop sign does the same thing.. and it only does it sometimes not every time.. anybody else have this problem?? the guy at the local parts house sold me some gas treatment called HEET and i put it in let it sit for a while and went to crank it up and it has been running fine.. please help and give me some feedback so i can get this stopped if possible

HEET is an additive to remove moisture from gas, so maybe you got some bad gas somewhere. I've run gas with the 10% ethanol for years in various different vehicles and have never had any problems with it.

3 words............ "Fuel Pressure Regulator". Your 10% bleeding heart liberal juice just ate the rubber out in your FPR's diaphragm. It happens here in MN all the time. Put a new one in and get a spare. Welcome to the wonderful world of ethanol. Do like me and buy non-oxygenated gas that is labeled specifically for motorcycles, quads and boats. I refuse to use ethanol. Our Stupid governer (PAWLENTY) signed a bill in MN that by 2012 all fuels will contain %15 ethanol.

But then I don't have to worry about that anymore.

E10 never gave me any problems. However, it does require you to be a bit richer so if you have a clogged fuel filter, you might want to change it out b/c ethanol cleans out the fuel system.

sounds just like what my truck was doing...would do it at a total random and seein my truck is a stick I would go to shift and die right there in the middle of the road...about 2 weeks ago I changed the PCM to and 02 and had my friend tune it with HPT and I havnt had a problem since!...

I dont know if it makes a difference with the year computer but Ill give an observation that I noticed...my friend changed his 00 to an 02 PCM and I went to visit him and work on my truck so I hadnt heard it in a while...well he started his truck to move it(truck was cold)and I noticed that when it fired the RPMs went to around 1500 and just kinda hung up there the SLOWLY dropped to around 1200 and so forth...my truck would fire then drop to 1000 or 900 rapidly and I dont think the computer could adjust in time and ultimately stall out...well just swapping the PCM and no tunes on my 1st start up it didnt drop down quickly...maybe someone else will chime in some more info on computer but it certainly helped my case so far!

thats in the stock tune correct?...it just seems to handle start up better I suppose...

def. weird about it dyin...I mean you could smell raw fuel heavy from the pipes and it would do this for a good 5 min...like say I was late for work, hop in, fire up and just have to pedal it...and shift like I was Mario Andretti to prevent it from stalling(RPMs would drop very rapidly)...once it ran for a while then the RPMs would drop bout then at like 400 bounce back up then she was ok...all I know is it doesnt do that any more!...thank goodness because that really takes the wind out of your sails when your bench racing and go fire up the truck and the ****** this doesnt even run(lol even tho I told them it was due to the HUGE cam I was runnin...)
