Default 09 Silverado backup sensors

I have a buddy that has a 09 Silverado 4x4 and he wants to know something about his backup sensors. He wants to leave his ball in his hitch, but when he does the backup sensors go crazy. Is there a way to unplug them withoug disengaging the entire system, or adjusting them out a little bit. He wants to be able to keep the system active, just disengage the 2 center sensors. Is that possible??

You could try it and see what the system does. Just reach behind the bumper and unplug the two sensors. The only problem I see that would occur would be either the system errors out because it senses two "faulty" sensors or it errors out because the system now senses a break in the circuit.

He's tried that already and it just shuts off the whole system. I was leaning towards resistors in those 2 wires, but not sure what size resistors to use, or if it would even work.

Idk about his truck but mine has a parking assistant button that turns them off when you are towing and such.
