I bought a 03 rcsb to play with and I have been looking at putting the 06 grille on. I understand I need a hood as well, but I figure I might as well get a cowl hood since I like them. I can not find a cowl hood for the 06 other than what I have heard described as a "stairway" look. I'm more interested in the cowl hoods I have seen for the 03 04 and the one I had on my 01. Does anybody know where to look, or maybe I'm not looking at all the correct years and models that will fit with the 06 grille. I have checked Jegs, Goodmark, glasstek? and even ebay with little to no luck. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

 

03 and 06 should have the same front end... Unless i missed something somewhere, which is entirely possible

 

They changed to the split grille, which I prefer. Idk when exactly, but I have seen 05 HDs with the split grille.

 

Thought fenders hood and grilles were interchangable on those...

 

Well they are, my problem is the 06 07 grille is bigger from what I hear which is why you need a hood from those years, I just cant find a cowl hood for those years that looks like the cowl hoods I have always seen.

 

Honestly think all you need is the grille.... Been wrong before though

 

Sorry bud but the 05-07 HD and 06-07 Cowl hoods suck , unfortunatley, you either need to swap back to 05- earlier 1500 front end or swap to a gmc front end and retain the sweet cowl scoop.

Yes , the hood and corresponding grille from 03-05 and 06-07 will interchange , the fenders are the same , but you need each corresponding grille to line up each style hood lip . Or it wont look right.
Thats one reason i like my 2000 , best looking cowl hood on all the silvy years .

 

+1 i like my 99 as well, andfully agree on the fact they look best with a cowl....

 

I mean I have seen a swap with just the grille, but the guy said it looked goofy from the side cause the grille stuck out more than the hood.

The cowl hoods for the 03 look fine to me, I just prefer the split grille, but I also prefer when things match..

 

I had a goodmark cowl hood on my 04 , i liked it as well , just wasnt as big of a fan of the grille whenni saw the 06 come out , but like you said , the cowl hood for that truck is goofy, thats why i never put one on my 07 Dmax i had .

Yeah that combo your talking about doesnt line up , looks like a dog with overbite Lol
