Default 03/04 trucks ever come with a painted front bumper? (powder coaters in here)

Hey gang,

Does anyone know if the 03/04 silvy's ever came with a painted front bumper or are they always chrome? I'm looking to do a little powdercoating on the truck this summer, however I don't think I've ever seen a painted front bumper for the 03/04 trucks. Can you powdercoat over a chrome bumper? I'm going to "vader" my truck this summer and I want all the chrome off! Even on my wheels, they're going to get powdercoated black. Can you powdercoat over the chrome wheels or am I better off getting a painted set and powdercoating those? Anyways, thanks in advance for any info.

-Joe

I think the bumper behind the cover on an SS is a bare steel bumper so that is one option. Sandblasting off the chrome is another.

For the wheels, I think those "chrome" factory wheels are just chrome plated tin covers over a regular painted steel wheel. You might just be able to pop them off.

Would the SS bumper have any goofy holes in it for mounting the SS cover? I don't want to have to have any filled. Just a powdercoat it, bolt on and go.

The SS bumper is a direct bolt on. I just used my stock crome bumper and ordered ALL the FACTORY SS bumper pices, brackets, clips, nuts and bolts. I just had my painter prep and paint the cover and the rest was simple. After the cover was all done it took him around 35 minutes and i was drivein home. There are a bunch of pics on my cardomain page.

in 03' i believe the only pre-painted one's that are in pewter are for the suburban/tahoe which is the pre-03' front end.

you will need to strip the chrome if you wont the paint to stick..
