Default 02 HD front end with a 2/4 drop

Anyone have experience with the HD front end swap on a 99-02 and a 2/4 drop? I just did the swap and now I feel like if I do my drop I’m going to be wayyyy too low and my bumper is gonna scrape like a mother. Dan told me about the Z71 valance giving some extra clearance which is not my favorite option but it may be the way to go. Anyone got any tips?

I’d like to run 20s and similar size tire so 30” and not filling the fenders really kills my soul.

This was with the 2/4 Hotchkis springs (that have sagged to like a 3/5) prior to cutting the brackets and raising the bumper 1/2"....

Now with coilovers/spindle up front (~4") and the bumper raised 1/2", the stock valance barely doesn't clear a standard parking stop/curb.

Your setup looks great.

I've thought about mounting a backup camera up front to monitor those parking stops on the double din flip screen. It's been close to ten years since I did the Denali bumper and haven't hit one yet. Parking on an up hill grade it's harder to judge where the stop is compared to level ground. Uphill I always feel I'm close to the stop but when getting out looking, I'm usually a good distance away lol

Hmmm cause like I had said in another thread I was going to do Atomic’s hybrid coilovers and drop two inches but now I’m rethinking and instead might do a coilover and spindle just in case I don’t clear I can always ditch the spindle. My bumper cannot move anymore I have it at max height and I think it may be a bit far forward but all the original brackets line up so idk. Lower light is kinda wonky fit

3" drop with a 30" tire will clear fine. Not going to get 4" up front with that tire and not rub alot. Front tires in my pics above are 28.5".

Thanks, its currently in the shop for a makeover so stay tuned for a fresh new look.

I would almost prefer it be a little lower so it hits the curbs rather than going over them and catching on the way back. After ripping the valance off a couple times, I got good at either stopping short or backing into a spot with a parking stop. Luckily most of the parking lots around here are pull thru.

Why a 30" tire? I'm running a 31ish" (285/50/20) no rub. The 50 sidewall is nice for ride quality and it's a super common tire size so they are cheap and there are good options out there. Obviously a 31" compared to a 30" only gives a half-inch but sometimes that would be nice

If you can get a measurement from lip to ground on level-ground of course, It would help us diagnose and advise.

Also, if Shlumpt TX roads are similar to Dallas you might be screwed, never seen such awfully maintained roads.

I’m in FTW. Trust me the roads are worse

Also the tire was a 30.4 I believe
