Default $1300 for a catalytic converter???????

My girlfriend went to the Honda dealership today and they said she needed a new catalytic conveter for a cost of $1300. The car has been running pretty slugish, and the check engine light is saying the cat is bad. Does anyone know of a good Honda forum or website I could use to find a new one, or find I can can just delete the cat and rear o2. FWIW its a 99 Civic EX 2dr. I know this is kinda out of place on ls1tech, but searching the internet I did not find any good resources.

Thanks for your help guys!!

She could get a great deal by just going to a good muffler shop since she can use any brand converter. She doesn't have to buy one from the Honda dealership. I have friends with Hondas that spend that much on a full Hi-Performance exhaust system, installed. For our '88 Honda Accord Go-For car it was going to cost us less than $150 installed from a local shop. Hope that helps.
