Not to ***** up your thread or anything, but I bought an SS bumper cover and am wondering how I'm supposed to mount it on my bumper, will these brackets work on a 96? If so I would be in need of some too

lol, you do realize that the SS bumpers are intended for 2003-2007 Classic Silverados, right?

that's not an OEM SS bumper, big difference. That bumper is a Stylin Concepts bumper and is designed to fit the OBS pickups/suvs. The Stylin Concepts one slips over the existing bumper and has self tapping screws to hold it into the sides. The OEM SS bumper can be put on the same way, however it holds onto the 03-06 Silverados alot better and nicer with the OEM brackets.

If you are installing an 03-06 OEM SS bumper onto a 96 Silverado, my suggestion would be that you need to make custom brackets, nothing OEM should fit because the brackets were not designed to be used with a 1996 pickup. But goodluck getting it to fit. Would just be better off buying the Aftermarket version and bolt it right on.

EDIT: here is the link to Stylin' Concepts' SS Bumper in case you want to order up the right one:

Hope all this helps you out!

Yeah I actually have the Stylin Concepts one (but at a lower price thank god) but it didn't come with any screw or hardware. I guess I thought that the brackets would work, guess not. Thanks for taking the time though man

no problem. The aftermarket ones just slip over your stock bumper. You will need to remove the lower plastic valance and then just slip the new one over the entire bumper and secure it with some self-tapping screws near the fenderwells. Might even help to throw some thick 3M tape on the front and top of your stock bumper before placing the SS bumper over it, just to give it that extra hold.

Good luck!
