any year 4l80e will work, don't get 91-93 model. Several people here run 90s 4l80e's with no problems. Only difference is it wont have the top bellhousing bolt hole.

You'll need a 4l80e flywheel and spacer from a 2001+ HD truck.

You might wanna atleast do the shift kit too for the 80E. Also what converter are you gonna run?

The truck had a Pro 3400 I believe so prolly around there. Maybe 2800 to 3000 if the cam likes that.

Okay so if I got a 98 4l80e all I would have to do is the yoke, crossmember, flywheel and spacer? I wonder if the wiring from an older truck will swap over?

2001 up if it was me get the drive shaft with it and take the front yoke off it and get the ujoint from napa and you will be on your way.

I finally got the truck since this thread was posted and am now searching for transmissions. That car-auto.com seems to be a hell of a good help. I am curious if I have to do anything to the trucks computer tune? Anyone?

yep,, tune has to be fixed for a 80E... i also have a wiring diagram helper sticky on here..

Okay I have finally decided to do the 80e swap. I have done much harder things in the past I think. In due time it will be done. Going to just get a salvage low mileage one with as much to go with it as they will give and go from there. That means I have a 4l60e Fuddle 3400 for sale with almost no use. Maybe a hundred miles. Haha. Im so ready to get this thing going. Maybe by Christmas.
