what year and condition is the ls1 block?. I was thinking about having my iron block 4.8 bored out to a ls1 bore and do a 383 stroker kit. Could I just do the same with that block minus the bore? If I just done it with a different block than the one that is in my truck, I could take my time. Sorry for the stupid questions.

You could have the block bored out to like 3.908 and put a 4.00" stroke crank in it I think that will give you about 383 cubic inches. The block mains need to be line honed before its ready to go but besides that its in good shape. I also just got a brand new set of cam bearings put in it last week.
