For several reasons if you are comparing them to forged pistons. Most of the motors on here are used for daily street driving and cast pistons (which is what the factory pistons are) will last a lot longer than forged ones. The Sealed Power ones I used are a matched set to 2 tenths of a gram and size matched to .00025". They were fitted in at .0015" to .002" and have the Duroshield on the skirts. They will never rattle, take 100-150 shots of nitrous and last 100,000+ miles. If you plan on 20lbs. of boost or a 300 shot then forged is the way to go. For a quiet, strong and long lasting street engine then pistons like these are the way to go.

I built this engine to replace the 427 in my truck because it's going in a Camaro. Now my plans are to use the LS1 out the Camaro in the truck.

X2! There isn't a damn thing wrong with those pistons. I have built a few stock replacement 6.0L's with them and one allready has over 100K and is still quiet. I like the factory piston better for boost, but the FM's are the way to go for a NA daily driver.

I was trying to keep this thing pump gas friendly. With flat tops the compression ratio would have been 11.3
