01' Silverado HD HOOD FOR SALE
For sale: 2001 silverado hd hood. Color is red. In great shape(especially for a 15yr old hood). There is some slight fading of the paint, but not bad. There are a few chips in the paint(again, it's 15yrs old). It's in really good shape. I'd planned on putting this hood on my 04' sierra, but never have gotten around to the project.
Not interested in shipping the hood. Local pick-up only. Not interested in driving very far(unless the $$$ is right). I'm in the greenwell springs/baton rouge area.
$200 obo.
PS - also have a 99-06 Sierra hood in Black. Paint is pretty faded, but hood is in good shape. asking $100 OBO.

@ ScottyBoy: I know someone that just made a trip up near Shreveport a couple weeks ago(with an empty box trailer)! I don't think anyone I know is headed back that way, but I'll keep an eye out. If you know anyone that'll be near Baton Rouge, let me know.

I dont post here much anymore, but I just want to say that is a HELLUVA good deal for the LA ppl.
When I was painting my truck, I ended up settling on an HD hood that had been pryed open and subsequently damaged for $125, and spent about $300 getting it back into shape.
I hope someone will buy this and take care of it. They are hard to find, and expensive for an OEM one.

Thanks, arthursc2. I agree and appreciate your input on this.
If I'm not mistaken, a new OEM would run between $500-$600. Then, they charge you an additional freight charge for shipping(almost ~$175). That gives you a primed hood with no liner & needing paint. A new factory painted hood would end up close to $1,000(after shipping, liner & paint). I imagine that's why we don't see more of these. An aftermarket hood(punched from a Coke can) is still CRAZY expensive($400 + freight S&H).

It's hard to find a used one for under $250 out here in CA.
There just over $500 new for OEM. You also need a liner and the clips as mentioned.
I think these are the correct numbers.
15745931 -Hood
15262085 -insulator
10150076 -clip I think there is 12??
The aftermarket don't fit as good and are thinner as mentioned.
