just bought a 2004 cam, springs, retainers, and pushrods from a 2004 Z06 with 2000 miles on them. Just wondering is this a good cam for a basically stock 5.3L. Im not too sure on the specs though. Does anyone know if the cam is too big? What about getting a tune? Do i HAVE to? Will the stock Ecm pick it up or will i have to give ol' Nelson a call? I know its recomended, but is it needed? ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

The cam isn't too big, but the LSA is too long. I believe it is somewhere around a 117. With a truck you want a 114 or 112. It puts the rpm range a little higher. You'll really need a stall converter to make full use of it.

I almost went with that cam... Its suppose to give you good power...
But Im telling you go bigger than you think you want too
Go with a 212-218-522-529-114 or something of that nature
I dont see gains much over 15hp with that zo6 cam..
I got 32 rwhp from my 212-218-522-529-114

fogle, holy **** thats a big picture in your sig!!!!!!!!!!
Alot of guys used to go with the Z06 cam and make decent power without the need for a tune. Yes it has more top end, but the bottom end isnt all that different. If you got it for a cheap enough price i say take the 3 hours and slap it in, see how you like it. If its not what you wanted sell it and go bigger.
