if a tube with obstructions in it makes more power than a smooth one, why do vettes and fbodies have smooth intrances with no baffles in the tube or anything? why did older model cars come with smooth tubes (back when people didn't care about intake sounds) i mean come on, name me one HIGH PERFORMANCE vehicle that has big ole baffles in the intake setup.
One of these days I will try and find out for my self. I'll try and pick up a Volant or AirAid MIT intake tube off of E-bay or somewhere and do a little comparison test. I did do a little testing last night after taking my son to basketball practice. My seven run 0-40 and 0-60 average on the ole stop watch with the stock setup was, 0-40 in 3.05 seconds & 0-60 in 6.18.. Last night I did three 0-60 runs about 5 minutes apart from each other, the three run average was 0-40 in 2.98 & 0-60 in 6.00.. This is with about 15 miles on the Pro Cold so the ECM has really adjusted for the new intake yet, the times could get quicker or slower, we'll see. I'll keep playing with it and see how it does. The intake noise is louder than the stock unit or the UPD, deeper too. It's not so loud that it's annoying though and this is only under WOT, around town it's slightly deeper. We'll that's all I've got so far.

How big is the pipe ID and OD?

I think one of these with a UPD tube or any other brand would be pretty badass.... Just not badass enough for me to spend $ on it... I'll get me some stainless exhaust pipe that is mandrel bent and weld a plate on it and go....
(I know how i said it, that it seems simple, probably wouldnt be... who knows...)

I didn't measure the pipe but it looks like 3.5", it's expanded a little at the end where the maf connects to it. The inlet is actually smaller (where the filter connects) than the outlet. Driving around town this morning the truck felt livelier and definitly had better throttle repsonse. I've E-mailed Dave at Pro Cold and asked him to explain their reason for using the OEM intake tube. An AirAid MIT intake tube is $108 from Macromotive http://www.macromotive.com/shopping/...3.0.4567.35028 Maybe I'll pick one up used or eventually pay for a new one.

Procold uses the stock tube and Volant uses a tube both with air mufflers attached inline. The reason is that some vehicles especially vehicles set up for torque (hello trucks) use & need the extra air contained in the air mufflers for response when you go to WOT or are needing the power down low in RPMS.

The intake tubes that use air mufflers help give you more air on demand by having some in reserve instead of waiting for everything to catch up to WOT.

The vettes do not have air mufflers because the and not anywhere near a truck in design and do not typically have the same HP to weight ratio and hence would be less dependant on torque as trucks are. Vettes are obviously built for speed and any Silverado coming out of Detroit was not designed “stock” for ripping through the quarter.

Volant and Procold have both said they use them because they make more power with them so – hello maybe they are doing it right and you’re getting robbed with the others?

who here actually thinks all these different airfilters/intakes make an actual difference in the 1320? i say there isint nothing more in each apart than a 1/10. maybe .15.

Why is he getting annoying? Because you don't agree with what he's saying? It's fine to disagree but someone should still be able to post an opinion even if somebody else disagrees with it. Opinion are like ********, we all have one.

no he's annoying (tuck2) because he's obviously with procold and won't come clean. I don't have a problem with the unit but don't come on here acting as if you're just some end user that has found a great product.
