Default xr-265 and high miles?

my 5.3 has around 225K miles and i just acquired a 212/218. I plan on running yellow springs and 7.4 pushrods. But my question is about the timing chain and revlimiter. Will the chain be good enough to leave in place? Plan on shifting gears at about 6200 rpm, is that to high or not enough. Don't want to turn the bottom end harder than I have to.

Ive searched some but there just arn't many threads about high miles and camshafts.

I'd replace the timing chain just to be safe. 6200rpm is about right for that cam, mine is set at 6300.

The stock chain lasted to 250k miles for one guy on ls1truck.com. He had a cammed 5.3 and beat the crap out of it. I say change it just to be safe.

Yank is selling LS2 HD timing sets for $65 shipped. Might want to send them a message and see if they have anymore left.

Or... sell me the cam
I'm on the hunt for that cam.

I bought this cam off of GMFS lol. The engine is in good shape, 90% of the miles are 75mph on the interstate. I guess I will change the chain while I'm in there, and turn it loose.

Greymatter where are your shift points set if you don't mind me asking?
