The sound quality will be better if using an aftermarket headunit and the sat tuners.

Well, I've got XM factory in the Silvy SS, and aftermarket Sirius/Kenwood in the Vette. Hands down, Sirius is the better equipment. (signal strength, equipment, etc) My XM drops out downtown between buildings, where my Sirius never does. Sirius does cost $13/ month, compared to XM's $10. Channel line-ups, well, I've got favorites on both. Sound Quality, they both vary day by day, maybe a slight edge to XM currently. However, when Sirius gets their channel bandwidth adj perfect, they should be superior in SQ.
Biggest Sirius selling point over XM, 60 COMPLETELY commercial free music stations!
Just a little IMHO from someone that has both.

I am really pleased with Sirius. I know alot of people have XM. I had it and it didnt suit me. So I went with Sirius and to this day Im glad I did!! Lot of people say that Sirius has a large drawback because they werent first into the game and XM was. Well, first in doesnt always make it the best. Dont get me wrong I liked both, regular FM sucks ***! But my nod goes to Sirius.

Sirius has more channels and like mallet said it has more commercial free channels. I think xm has like 80 something channels and sirius has like 112 channels, 60 commercial free. Sirius does cost more but more channels means more worth right...I have a alpine cd which unfortunately has xm, but they will be coming out, if they haven't already, with an adapter for sirius to work on xm ready receivers. Hope this helps.
