yea i was wondering why no one was mounting the turbos closer to the front. there is so much room with electric fans. by the time you have something to offer i will hopefully be ready.

I have the header flanges already and the 304 stainles J bends

I was thinking along the lines of T03/T04e's. Of course, I wasn't looking to make 800 at the tires either.

I would think the base kit would be 60-1 hifi's
should work real nice on a 5.3 with the 3" downpipes
I do have my 4.8 test mule to try things out on
also a 2003 Gmc sierra ext cab 4x4 to test things on
still working on pricing

Is he Using you stock headers there ?
Like to see what he is doing for the crossover and such
Also looks like he needs to reroute some coolant hoses
Not too bad an idea for sure
My Idea was one on each side
what is he doing for an intercooler and wastegates
Love to see a top shot of the setup

yes, i had to move a bunch of stuff for this setup.
im using an OBX front mount, 2 tial 46mm wastegates, twin 3" downpipes, and yes they are stock manifolts till i get something together. i dont think the stock manifiolds will hold up too long

The stock manifolds have been used to make over 1500hp on an engine dyno. They should hold up ok.

Price is the big question here, and since my truck is 4WD, I wouldn't want the air inlets (to the turbos) to be much (if any) lower than stock. It's not like I jump off in every mudhole I can find, but if I need to get into some sloppy stuff, I'd really prefer to have the option.

Really and truly, there is no reason that the headers shouldn't sell for $1k for the pair. Add in the turbos (figure $1500 for the pair), wastegates ($250 a piece), blow off valve (maybe another $250??), intercooler (say $1k), all the boost tubing/couplers, and exhaust pipes (to get the exhaust as far back as, say, the middle of the transmission)... by the time it is all said and done, the kit as described shouldn't come in at any more than $5.5k-$6k, once all the bits and pieces are added in. Obviously, a fuel pump and bigger injectors would add to the price, but really, this is a pretty reasonable price target that will still allow for some profit (you know and I know that 60-1 turbos can be had in plenty of places for less than $750/each, and once you have the header design down, manufacturing on those won't be anywhere near $1k; same with the boost/exhaust tubing).

Joe Hay- you're right, nitrous will achieve the same results for a fraction of the price of a turbo... but the nitrous bottle needs to be refilled periodically and it doesn't really help in a lot of the areas that the turbos would... namely, towing (I guess you could spray while pulling a trailer up a steep grade... once...) or just every day froggy driving. Part of my thrice weekly commute involves a 2 lane road where people seem to think that 10 under the limit is acceptable, and the passing zones are short and far between. I wouldn't need to boil the tires with a 150+ shot, but the progressive nature of a boosted motor would allow plenty of power to go around without having to drive sideways at 60 mph (as fun as that can be).
