Default WOO HOO, scored some E-fans for $50.....

Went to a swap meet saturday and got a set of 97 LT1 fans with wiring for $50! Put them in today after a good cleaning and painting. Made some neat chrome brackets and hid all the wires, looks pretty sweat. Also used some 7/16" weather stripping to seal the shroud to the radiator on the sides and top. Truck runs right at 185-190(middle big mark to the next small mark on stock gauge) even with extended idling. Now all I need to complete my performance goals are a underdrive pullie, headers and maybe a 4:10 posi. Hoping for low 14's to high 13s after these mods and in winter air. Keep ya posted

Man, you can't beat that deal unless you use the old five finger discount. Hey I'm planning the fan swap for my truck next and was wondering where you put the on/off sending unit, and where might a fellow tap into the AC activation wire at.

I used the plugs and wire that came with the fans to a point. Then I tied the two hot wires and two grounds into pairs. I tied the two hots into a single 12ga wire and ran in directly into the fuse box in the cab and plugged it into the "4X4" 15amp slot. I did install an inline 30 amp fuse right before the fuse box. The 4x4 slot was the ONLY one I could find that was un-used and was only a "key on" hot. Then I tied the 2 ground wires into a single 10ga wire and grounded it to the core-support.(radiator frame). I drove around with it all day yesterday and no problems. It stays about a needle width about the 185 mark all the time, idling or cruising. Got a good deal on the fans but I had to spend $80 on a Dremel tool, paint, weather stripping, wiring etc. I have been needing a Dremel for a LONG time and I will use it often though so.... Did take me most of the day to do the install. Decent mod for the money, should help keep it cool in the staging lanes with the engine off.
