Default Will this cam work with stock heads?

I have a nnbs rcsb with a 5.3. I am looking at a cam that is 236/242 on a 112 with a 580/590 lift. I know its too big for a truck but will it fit with stock heads. :nunchuk1:

just change out the springs and pushrods and you should be fine...new heads would probably help but not completely necessary

Terrible idea. Big heavy truck, huge cam = no fun.

Dont do it, trust me, Ive been overcammed before and it sucks on a daily basis. WHat else have you done to the truck? You better be running in the10s, otherwise your going to hate it.

If your worried about the "sound" get a Thumpr cam. It will sound the same but wont be so big.

I just bought the truck 2 weeks ago. I plan on getting tsp 5.3 stage 2.5 heads in about 3 to 6 months and am getting a 3600 converter. I just dont want to change cams later because i didnt go big enough.

Since your plan is to upgrade heads and stall, Then yes that cam will be fine, But you wont get the full effect until the supporting mods are installed. You feel me? 7.4 pushrods should be good...

I was also looking at a 235/240 on a 112 with a little more lift. Which will probably work better. Thanks for the help guys.

I'd plan on checking PTV clearance with a cam that size too

Don't run a regrind cam. A brand new one isn't that expensive
