Default Wierd A/F ?

I just replaced my instrament cluster with a Platinum Escalade Cluster. It took 5 minutes, no problem. The wierd thing is I have been running rich and couldn't figure out why. The old cluster didn't have a working speedometer, for the lasty month it has been slowly going out. Well after I replaced it BAM! The A/F is correct again, and I got 1.7 MPG back. The truck runs great now. Is it just a coincidence or does the cluster have something to do with the A/F ratio? I never considered this as a solution. I know that someone here can settle this question for me. Thanks in advance guys,
