Default Why is my truck detonating?

ok well you can see my mods in the sig...i hooked the predator up to my truck to check my timing and see if there was any knock retard..i found some wierd results..ok to start off my timing at WOT varies from 26* to 31* which seems pretty high..i know hypertech advances timing but that seems like alot...ok the predator showed some knock retard under normal acceleration..like when i would go about 1/2 throttle to get up to 65mph..the highest it got was 3.62 i believe...but when i would floor it without using the nos it never showed any knock retard..kinda wierd i thought....and when i used the nos it showed 1.62 of retard at the most...can some1 explain? thanks

I get 1-3 degrees of KR when accelerating 1/4 to 1/2 throttle at cruising speeds. But none at WOT. When engine speeds are slow, especially with the converter locked, its easy to get some knock. I wouldn't worry about part throttle KR. I think when it happens at WOT, its the most destructive.

ok but what about when im getting around 1.62* of knock retard with the nos? i got good gas in it...should i pull a little timing? also i need to get some colder spark plugs...could this be causing detonation with the nos? thanks!

So, are you thinking that every time you show KR, you're detonating?

I'd get some tr6's asap and see if that helps first.

Do you have a wideband?

Yeah, thats an accurate air/fuel ratio meter.

I noticed a granatelli mass air in your sig. I've heard those will cause KR sometimes. Maybe try putting the stock one back in to see what happens.

You know, that timing is probably a little high for nitrous. You might want to take out the power tuning with the hypertech when you run nitrous to lower timing a little.
