Default Why are the Ls engines so knock sensitive?

Question is As the title says... I have a 410ci (Old Style) small block in my boat I spin to 6000rpm w/32+ degrees of total timing. I Had a 327 in my s10 spun to 7000 w/32+ degrees timing. and never had any kind of problems from knock or detonation, even if it was there, it didn't hurt anything. I have taken my boat motor apart a few times and it's still perfect. so why do I see guys only getting 22/23/24etc degrees total timing on the LS style motors when the old motors would do 34+ if needed. also How much timing has anyone run on a LS motor?
Just curious, thanks....

This is weird... If you are refering to your n/a lq4, I see no reson why you are not able to get ~30* of timing and ~12.8 a/f on stock CR without any KR issues. How about making your knock sensors a little less sensitive? Just a suggestion.

The inefficiency of the GEN1 SBC allowed higher timing #'s, with the LSX series engine having much higher efficiency it generally does not favor as high of a timing # with similar mods. With the LSx engines you can get low 30's for timing but in general they wont take as much as the old school small blocks.

At least this is my understanding...

I have run as high as 21 on pump gas with 8.5lbs boost and 24 on race gas with no KR. For street I run 19-20 degrees.

i think the cam had alot to do with it. my ls1's timming was up there in my silverado with the lpe cam but this stock 5.3 doesn't like that much timming. i think dynamic compression has alot to do with it too.
