I got that exact cam along with the mods in sig.

As for performance i couldnt be more pleased besides it feeling a little slow from a dig but i also am just on the stock converter and 22s, something in the 2500-3000 range would be perfect IMO.

Compared to stock its def. a deifference and once my truck hits about 3000rpm it just seems to scoot.

As far as gas mileage i lost some but i also drive like im being chased by the cops so go figure.

I upgraded my tranny but thats becuase im adding a 150 shot of gas and possibly doing some head work. the basic beefing up of yyour tranny to be on the safe side is a good idea.

For tunning i had a street tune and dyno tune done with minnimal issues that mainly were due to a blown fuse not due to the perf. parts.

Thumbs up

Jdawg04 4.8 Thanks for posting up on your combo. Were did you get your dyno tune done at???

I got my Block, Crank, rods and new pistons back today from the machine shop, so I will be ordering my cam and heads soon. When I get the motor completely assembled and ready to swap out, I am gonna yank the tranny and go through it before I put it all back together. Im Gonna try a 2500 stall in there.

I would think a 2500 TQ converter and some 3.73s would be perfect for you im thinking of a little more since im lacking CI being a 4.8 and im rollin one some pertty heavey shoes

I think the 2500 stall is too small if you want to use it for the track. If not, I would stay with the stock stall. I plan on getting a 3200, i currently have aTBstall which is a 2800 stall if i'm not mistaken.

I am not really looking to run it all out at the track. After talking to several people they still recomend it.

It's a good cam, especially for DD trucks. I see myself going bigger late this summer though, but not for sure yet.

back when I had my 5.3 in my ext cab, I had that cam... real DD friendly,
I also had shorty headers, TB stall, 3.42s, CAI, and 93 tune and ran a 14.0!! pretty good for the mods.... I would really recommend that cam on any DD,

my brother has one now its the 212/218 hi-lift on a 114lsa, and it pulls like crazy.. cant hear much lope out of it but performs very well...

It will make more torque across the entire rev range because of the higher cylinder pressures and increased duration. It'll be harder to tame the camshaft through a tune, no doubt, but a laptop in the right hands can tackle the high lift 265 pretty well I'd think.

For the sake of your daily driver I'd stick with the low lift XR265 so there are no worries about accelerated valve train wear, and it'll be more gas friendly giving you more beer money from the savings on MPG!!
