Whippled 4.8L VS. 6.0L
#1
Ive seemed to stumble upon a nice used whipple kit for a very nice price. The whipple would cost me about the same amount as a 6.0 swap. My question is what kind of gains will i see from the whipple compared to the 6.0L? If i do go with the whipple now, ill be doing a 6.0L swap when i graduate college.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Seems most whipples Ive noticed that were just bolted on drop the ET about 1 second in the quarter.Seen guys drop in 6.0 with cams in RCSB and be mid 13 to mid12s.The 6.0 once tuned will not have to be fussed with. But hey im sure others here may have a different take on it.

I would go 6.0 for sure. Just with simple bolt ons, they will be just as fast as 4.8 whipple. Not to mention that the 6.0 is a great platform to make much more power in the future with.
A whipple is also going to possibly cost more money as well. If you just want 5-7 pounds out of it, you may be okay. However, you are going to have to do a lot more for anything after that. Injectors, intercooler, meth injection, and tuning. If the kit has the above, i MAY consider doing it.
I would do a 6.0 and when you graduate college, think TURBO. If you want major power, gotta go turbo and 6.0 or bigger.
HOWEVER, think about gas prices when doing any performance upgrades. Premium gas will soon be in the $3.00 ranger now that summer is near.
