i would just do the tranny and no converter.

 

I have a 2001 silverado with a 4.8. the truck had about 16000 on it and then i put a radix on it with a set of ported and polished vette heads and a 224 comp cam. It made 389 rwhp through a single exhaust. I drove it for 1300 miles and now i have no 2nd, 3rd or o/d. The 4l60e cant handle ****. build it up now and save the time later.

 

Where do you buy a "built" tranny? Who makes one?

I think I will be going with FLP

I had one built (1800 worth) at alocal shop. The guy made it shift so damn hard it derstroyed itself ... and I mean destroyed! After that, he rebuilt it again supposedly with the same parts, and this one started loosing 2nd gear. I will put it this way .. after I traded it off, the dealership sent me a warranty invoice (like they still think I own it) where they replaced 2nd clutch pack in it and some other stuff.

I say build it, or buy a tranny and be done with it.

I will admit .. I did drive it hard too. I think I should go to rehab sometimes the way my right foot spasms. :p

 

I was down at whipple and have seen there intercooler setups. The first one they tried was all done a tested about a year ago. Then for some reason they junked the whole setup and started over. I know they have it malked up on a new motor, but i also think they are focusing on more important issues. I will keep you guys up to date on their progress.

 

What could be more important for Whipple? I think they are starting to hurt from the introduction of the Radix. I was set to buy a Whipple until I took a good look at the Radix. If you live in an area that sees much hot weather, you had better get an intercooler, or suffer lots of lost performance when the weather gets hot. Even with an intercooler, you still lose some.

 

We have an insider Thanks 408 stepside. I am glad to hear that they kind of have one in the works. Do you know why Whipple junked their first intercooler setup?
I agree with David also. Since the introduction of the Radix, Whipple sales have got to be a little bit hurt. I think it would take about a week or less to come up with a very good perfoming intercooler for the 4.8,5.3,and6.0L applications.
