Whipple or Radix?

For the money how do the two compare? It's for a new '03 5.3 suburban Z71. How long will my tranny hold up? It will not be raced or even driven hard very often. Just for comparison, what does a stock suburban run the quarter in? Then with a roots SC? I may have to sell my '99 firehawk and I want to give the suburban some power.

You really can't beat the intercooled Radix System. It has no additional injectors, or aux ECU to worry about. It makes gobs of torque down low which is what your gonna need to get that 'burb moving.

I would definantly go with the Radix. Yes, you will need tranny work done in a bad kind of way. In my Z71, the tranny didn't last a day before it started slipping.

I would not expect Whipple to EVER come out with a cooler. It is just a ploy so that some people will buy the Whipple in hopes an intercooler will come out soon.
For ease, I would say definately do with the Radix.
For power, I would say definately go with the Whipple and intercool it. Intercolling a Whipple is not an easy task though on their 5.3L kits

I would go w/ the Radix no question. that what I've got on my burb it an 02' 4wd LT I had the same rwhp @ 3200 than I did @peak hp. I did cylinder heads and a cam @the same time but ( went from 213rwhp to 335rwhp(and the 335 was on a Mustang chassis dyno which typically read about 10%lower than the dynojet dynos. that a 57% increase in rwhp and about 73% if you factor in 10% to the 335 number. I put billet shift servos in the truck the first week after the install and I've got about 7000 miles and it seems to be working fine. but I do plan on a built tranny and a Yank TT2600 in the spring.

I'm figurin about 2.5K for tranny and converter and anywhere from 1200-2k for tranny alone. The life of the tranny definitely depends on how you drive, extended right foot spasms, will shorten the trans life. If you are sensible I beleive you'll get good life out of the 4L60E w/ billet servos. remember most of the guys here seriously flog their trucks on a regular basis.
