Default whipple charger

I finally saved up and bought a whipple charger for my 02 5.3 4wd single cab silverado.

Truthfully Im not impressed with the performance at all.

Its barely faster it seems.

I always test my truck on this certain spot on the highway. I was only 4 mph faster in about the 1/4 miles spot. i went from 88 to 92mph

Does this seem right?
I was running 15.75s in the 1/4.
I havent got a chance to run it yet with the supercharger but does any one know what i might expect to run?
Every thing was installed right and my fuel pressure is right.
boost is at 5psi untill right before it shifts, where it then spikes to 6 or 7.
any info will be great.

Have you dyno'd it and/or checked for any kind of knock retard? Whats your air fuel ratio? Are you still using stock exhaust manifolds?

I would have it put on a TechII or some other data collecting device and check for knock retart and total timing. My guess is you are having timing pulled on way or another and it is offseting you new power.
I know alot of LS1s with Prochargers only put out 380-420rwhp with the normal tuning but after LS1Edit tuning they end up with 450-490rwhp all through proper timing and air/fuel ratio. And even one they did on a 5.3L truck needed extra tuning to get it to 399rwhp.

Maybe you are having a similar problem.

Well, from what I've seen, they are hit or miss. I was looking for the same results you were. Whipple has a great marketing thing going with the lysholm screws and efficency. I bought one last year. I took my fairly heavily modded truck to a best 14.9 1/4 mile run. Before the whipple, I ran a 13.9 on a small shot of nitrous, so I was disappointed. I gave it a good shot, but with the Texas heat approaching, my power was decreasing - I sold it in June of 2002. I tried larger fuel injectors, LS1 edit tuning, exhaust and whatever else I could think of with little luck. It blew in too much hot air. Parish8 has posted some impressive times, but thats with $13K+ in mods, so his is not just a bolt on application.

I think the new Magna intercooled system is the way to go.

Hope the whipple works out. Maybe if you lived in Alaska instead it would be OK. My Whipple was pretty peppy in March with 50* temps.

in my heavy truck with no other mods i went from a 16.7's to a fairly consistant 15.3's, i was hoping for more but really that isn't too bad.

then a 6.0, stall, headers, exhaust and some other expensive ****..... 14.9's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

then 2 10cent reisitors and bam high 12's(no nitrous) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

atap or some other scan tool would do you good if you don't get at least a full second out of that thing. knock retard is a bitch

alot

hitch
bumper
tail gate
bed liner
back seat
pasenger seat
swar bar
tow hooks
spare winch
jack + lug wrench
spare

i have weights for all of this stuff, i don't have it handy though, the swar bar isn't worth it, it is only 8lbs and makes a big diference in handeling.
