I've been thinking about this too but what about backpressure? Do you lose any low end torque with the cutouts open? Basically, are there any negative side effects?

you will lose backpressure (and therefore torque) but it should be made up for at the end of the run up high.
if you want try this:
using a Quicktime Electric Cutout, have the cutout closed, after you launch off the line then open the cutout. in theory this should give you the best of both worlds. somebody correct me if i'm wrong or this won't work....

Look at Fbody dyno charts with and without cutouts open. Power / torque is up all across the rpm range. Look up a post 10 months ago by Redhawk and look at his dynos on his 6.0 truck. The chart will show a large increase in power and torque all across the rpm range.
You wont lose torque.
