Not to mention, with a simple tune the 60e will feel a LOT better than it does stock.

It's a drivers race. Stock for stock I've walked and I mean VERY SLOWLY but walked a 5.3L truck equivalent to mine when I had the stock 4.8L and 5 speed.

Yeah, I mean that's a tough call. I'd love to say my 4.8 could do it. I would say maybe with current mods on mine it would be close.

There is no replacement for displacement.

It is just a preference decision. The stock 5 speed and clutch will hold up to at least 200 more rwhp than a stock 4l60e. It's been proven. Just don't plan on many hard and fast 2-3 shifts with it. Once the synchros get worn the shift has to be pretty slow. It will stay together though.
If you plan on doing more than bolt-ons and don't wont to invest a couple grand in a good trans and converter then go with a 5 speed. Only a few mods, a good trans tune will help save a 4l60e.

I guess someone forgot to tell that to the NV3500 in my S10 cause its got 205K on it, gets powershifted every time I drive it and has survived many mid to low 12 second passes
