Default What is your oil pressure at.....

I have a 2003 Silverado with the 5.3. I was wondering what your oil pressure is at hot idle? Mine will drop to around 35psi. I have seen several other 5.3 and their hot idle is 40psi. The dealer says this is fine and every motor will be a little different. When I cruse around 30-45mph I have 48-52 psi and about 55-60psi at 70mph+ and when I floor it I get about 70-80psi. How does your psi compair? Thanks!

I use Mobil 1 5 and 10w30 and the psi is the same with both oils. Could the oil be causing a tad low psi, I know Mobil 1 is a thinner oil. So you think 35psi is fine? If it drops any lower I think I'll make the dealer look at it.

I think as long as you have about 10psi for every thousand rpms, then your ok. I'd still be worried if it dropped below 20 at idle though, but 35 is fine, thats about where mine is. So 35-80psi is perfectly fine.

I'm running the 0w-40w Mobil 1 as liong as your over 20psi @idle no worries. actually the higher the pressure the more drag on the motor from the pump.

I have '99 5.3l w/ 53k miles, at hot idle it is right at 50psi and about 70psi at WOT. I use 10w-30 Mobil 1. Although your 35psi is a tad lower than the norm, it is still plenty.
I had a buddy with a '94 S10, at idle that damn thing would go to 10-15psi, always made me nervous, but it ran like a champ!
