Default What you guys think??

OK guys I was wondering what you all think about this: I have a 2000 Silverado with the 4.8L, my goal is to get into the low to mid 12's. The mods I am doing are these:

Whipple Blower at 9psi
4.10 Gears
Transgo Shift Kit
50 Shot of nitrous
160 degree thermostat
Tuning with the BEST LS1-Edit.

a few other minor mods but these are the bulk of them. Do you guys think it is possible to dip into the lower to mid 12's with this setup? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find anyone running a Whipple at 9psi with nitrous. Please let me know what you guys think. no offense, but 4.8L and low-mid 12s just dont go in the same sentance. it doesnt look like that much of a difference on paper, but there is a pretty big difference to make up for from the 5.3L. it sucks. drop in a 6.0L and thats a different story...

Forget the blower and nitrous and drop in a 7.0L(422) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Low to mid 12's should be a piece of cake. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

I think that you might be able to get the truck in the mid 12's.

9psi whipple
forged ltw wheels-
150 shot nitrous-
Ls1 edit
4:10 gears

and strip everything out of the truck, like
seats (just install one race seat) interior, replace the bumbers with fiberglass ones and the same with hood and panels. I think that would work but if it does not you will end up with a mess. I would see about the engine upgrade it really makes more sense to me, but then again I can justify the ripping evertything out and repalcing panels I have seen it done a bunch of times with bmw m3's to shave a few pounds and a feww tenths of a second

ben tickner, that would possibly work, but if you really want low-mid 12s in a 4.8L take off the supercharger and spend that money on forged internals and stroker crank (no longer a 4.8L <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> )and spray 200+ on that engine through direct port.

There is one person over on ls1.com that runs 9psi, 4.10 gears and some other things and he is running around 13 flat I beleive.

Also, if you plan on 9psi + some N20, your tranny will be hating you big time.

no matter what route you go, with low-mid 12s you will possibly need to beef up your rear end. you WILL need to beef up your tranny. and you will also may need to beef up your internals. wont be cheap

Seriously though, 9psi and a 50 shot is gonna get you ~200+/- more hp(I'm taking an educated guess)...maybe a little more. Add a torque converter to that and you may be able to reach your goal of mid 12's

The problem is that with a 9psi Whipple, 50 shot N20, and a torque converter that "torqueless" 4.8 is gonna become a drivetrain destroying, traction killing torque fiend. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I think you can get there with the above but, hooking it up and making sure parts don't break is gonna be the problem. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

I talked to William on the phone this afternoon about new injectors. He wants to go all out with this. He just took off a 9# powerdyne and has the whipple waiting to be installed. I hope I get to see how well his 4.8 reacts to a 9# whipple and a shot of N2O.

OK so what type of converter should I get and what stall should I get? A guy I talked to said that the whipple is better on lower end so I was going to use Whipple from 2000-4000RPM and then after the power started dropping hit the switch for the nitrous. Anyways I need info for getting my 4.8 into the 12's not another engine. I have to work around what I have! Not that much more money!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> And if someone on ls1.com got into the 13's with a whipple and 4.10's then with my nitrous I should be able to get into the 12's! Help me out guys don't shoot me down!
