Default what will it take to get a Tahoe in the 12's

I ve got to get there. Mods are in sig. My plans are to have my intake tube modified for the bigger bypass valve and run 12# of boost with meth and hopefully a FMIC in the works. Ive pretty much decided on the team tripp tranny, but still havent spoken to the guy at JAG. I got some lighter Centerline 20's.
Im not too concerend with the 5.3 at this point being as it has 80K miles and has no resale value. But Im open to what people think about sticking with a 5.3
Other than that Im planning on dropping in a 6.0 with something like a 218/ 222 or something near that on a 114. and ARP hardware, and Im going to need the eaton.
Is there anything else other than nitrous??? Dont get me wrong I may give it a shot, but I want some real power going to the wheels.

What does your truck weigh bro? And what size converter are you running?

I think your setup could make similar power to mine if not more at 12psi since you are still on stock compression and look where I am.. I bet we weigh the same

truck weighs about 5k I would assume. A little less than Candy's. Ive got a PI Vig 3000. I really think that the only way for me to get that kind of power is with a 6.0 and a great cam and tune. Whats killing me is trying to find a decent way to route the pipiing to the FMIC. I may have to get EL fans for that reason alone!!

What did Bernard trip say when you told him you were gonna try and put 550 to the wheels in a 5K pound truck?

I'm just curious.

I assume you are getting the super duty, right?

Just paint it green. Problem Solved

A Tahoe that can do 12's won't last on a 4L6x-anything and/or a 10-bolt rear end. You're talking about moving between 5 and 6 thousand pounds - it will fight the drivetrain every step of the way. It's going to take 600+RWHP. Count on running slicks. Even with all the weight in the back and weight transfer I can't make 11" wide Eagles hook up, and I've got nowhere near the power it would take to do 12's.

I would say think in terms of force-inducted low-compression 408, 4L80-E with converter, custom Ford 9" or GM 10.5" rear with 4.10's and posi, slicks, and redoing the rear suspension with larger link joints. $12,000 would not even be enough.

Loose all the weight you can on the truck. Ditch everything inside the truck that isn't needed, ie 3rd row seats, stereo equipment, spare tire, tow hitch, everything.

I don't think it will take 600rwhp if you are close to 5klbs.. I weigh in at 5100lbs on race day and I am only close to 500rwhp. It's all in the 60's at that point. You have a great converter so from there it's all about traction.

Yep, It's all about the 60 foot time. You'll need slicks and the ability to cut a 1.80 or better 60'.

I have a stock cam 5.3 running 11psi at 5000 feet altitude, and my best is a 13.06. my best 60' is 1.77. With a 4800 lb raceweight. I'd say you should be able to do it with your setups horsepower potential.

The best thing to do, is get that thing running with your new bypass, do some tuning, and take it to the strip. You'll be able to tell by your mph if 12's are possible after you get some slicks and work on your launch.

The trucks paid off, so Ive got a little money to put into it. I havent done much recently since I want to get a real idea of what Im going to do. Id like to go with a built 65 since Ive already got a stall I like and I wont have to farm out a somewhat difficult job. Im now contemplating buying a 6.0 4L80 combo and doing that at once. I would think a good cam in a 6.0, 10-12# of boost and some N2O would get me there.
