what size Magnaflow
#1
I am going to try to get my exhaust done next week and need yall's opinion on what size mufflers to go with. I have Stainless Works long tubes and plan on going with a true dual 3" with high flow cats, X pipe, and dual Magnaflows. I dont want a bunch of interior resonance or droan. So what size mufflers would you guys suggest? I was thinking either the 18" or 22". Let me know what you think.

I've got a couple of extra magnaflows if you are interested. One is the really big 22" muffler that comes on their HD catbaack systems. Its dual 3" in, single 4" out, 22"x11". Has about 1000 miles on it. Ran great on my SS with Radix, but I wanted a stealthy sound.
Then I've also got a pair of their single 3" in/out round case mufflers. They are the 7" diameter and something like 18" long each. These have roughly 1000 miles on them too. Currently have 3" cutouts with them. These were on an escalade. Nice tone and pretty quiet overall.

What are you running on your truck Big Tex? What I am wanting sound wise is some thing that is not overly loud while at low rpm but has a good deep performance sound when I mash on the loud pedal. Im not saying I dont want to be able to hear it at all when I am cruising, but I dont want it to be like a previous exhaust I had that gave you a migrane everytime you drove the car for more than 15 min.

I just went back to a flopro oval HD muffler. I was running the big magnaflow with 3" pipes, 3" X, no cats and had it dumped before the axle. I ran my 12.3 times using this exhaust and my Radix loved it. Needless to say it was loud, it sounded really mean though. I think I could have just put my cats back on and installed a full tailpipe then everything would have gotten much more quiet. That was the same muffler you'd get if you bought a 2500HD magnaflow catback. Moregrip has one and says the catback is not too loud in his truck. But I wanted to get back that 'stock' looking appearance and sound, so I moved to a near stock sounding muffler.
The dual mufflers were on a project vehicle that I took back to stock. It had true 3" duals with X and no cats. Even with a stroker motor, it was pretty mild sounding in the cab. On the outside, it was ... ummm... healthy.
Neither of the magnaflow setups had the same drone as a flowmaster, just more of a louder tone. Evenn my current flopro has a little resonance at 1600 rpms and light throttle. On the highway, its pretty close to stock muffler sounding in the cab.

3" in and out.18" long. Sounds good , a little cab resonating , but it has a mellow tone . Just enough for people to ask, " thats not stock is it" ? Could be a bit louder , but the LTs should wake the decibals up.
