2.5 inch Y pipe...????? Some body lay some facts down... Does it make any sense... I am looking for headers. Find the ones I will settle for and come to find out they only have a 2.5 y pipe.. That will choke a motor, well at least mine, right????????????????????????????

Velocity would be my guess, but IMO you'd want something larger. If it's an off the shelf truck header kit (I'm assuming it is) it's probably not the most ideal for a supercharged 6l.

It's not 2.5" where it merges though right? It should be 3" where it comes together. Most of the dual exhaust systems for modified engines between 325 to 400 cid that I'm used to go from 3" collectors reduced to 2.5 dual pipes. If one was to run single 3" pipe back to the muffler and after, I'd think that dual 2.5's off the headers, into that pipe, would be perfect.

I recently read a technical article that outlined the different math and physics that is used to determine proper exhaust pipe size...just can't remember where I read it. From what I read though, it seemed to me that 3" dual pipe into single 3" pipe (like the PaceSetter system), was sort of mis-matched...unless I read it wrong which is entirely possible lol

Now I'm no FI guru, so I'm not sure about your application...

Well, his effective displacement is well over 400 cid. I still think for his setup a custom exhaust after the collectors is a much better solution than any off the shelf Y.

The more I look at this the more I am thinking like that. I might just do a 3 inch y into a single 4 inch pipe and muff.. Or a true dual 3in...

BUD
you need to find what your talking about

I have read up on a few guys with blown setups going into the 11's with the dynatechs, with the 2.5 collectors, so I dunno........

The OBX is easily the best header on the market for the price. You could always get the 6.0 version which has the 2 separate 2.5" pipes and then have your exhaust guy make a true dual setup. The collector on the Dynas/OBX is supposedly computer designed for optimal flow, but it's hard to believe looking at the difference between the dynatech and pacesetter collector. Honestly, if money is no question, the ARH collector is easily the best I've seen and then do a custom exhaust past that.

The headers I think 99% Ima go with is stainless works.. ARH is just more then I want to spend on headers.. I will be doing the Y-pipe or duals myself.. I just need to decide which way I am going to after the headers

It's a shame they didn't fit your truck, they are good looking headers..
