What Next?
#1
Hi there, this is my first post so go easy on me. Right now my performance mods aren't very impressive, but I plan on getting a Nelson tune thurs or fri and intake in the next few weeks. My question is, what next for good power? What needs to be changed or added to my engine to help out performance? I have read were P&P heads deliver nice gains, as well as cams, and maybe a bigger throttle body. I really haven't read too much on injectors or other fuel delivery mods, but am open to suggestions. I know a SC would be nice, but thats a little out of my budget. My goal is 300-320 rwhp, and I would like your help on ways to get there.
Thanks,
Jordan

P&P heads do not yield enough gains to justify the costs. Intake will help a little, if you are looking for dyno numbers (not track times) then a cam and some longtubes will help quite a bit. Cam swaps are easy and only take a few hours (unless you are going over .500 lift and have to change springs) Nitrous is always cheap power, but of course you gotta fill bottles.
Most people here avoid bigger TB's and TB spacers cause they just don't help really.
Volant builds a nice intake as well as the KN, but most people just modify the stock intake box (like me

Tune is a great start. I'd do some mid to full length headers next. There's a lot of choices out there...but I'd go with Arizona Speed and Marine OR The Other Guys.
You can get an intake of some sort or make your own...that's up to you.
A good cam will help a lot. The mild 212/218 ~.520/530 114LSA seems to be a good choice that helps keep the bottom end power but adds a lot up top.
BTW... welcome to the board.

If you wann ago big on N/A power I say go bigger on the cam and make sure you have all the bolt-ons.
I am in the 320rwhp range now (no underdrive pulley on a load simulating dyno IE: lower than dynojet #s) that I am tuned and run almost 97mph in the 1/4. Do the math at 4850lbs and it says I am at 340rwhp which is a bit high IMO.
My buddy has a 224/232 .554-112 cam in his 6.0L HD (stock heads no underdrive pulley) and made 337rwhp 342rwtq before any tuning.
I really dont see alot of people in this power range with the little cams but drivability can be worse if tunning isn't done right so you have to decide what you want

Thanks for yalls replies. I'm actually glad to hear that p&p heads don't aren't worth the money b/c they are expensive. I do have the 6.0 which is nice, but not as nice as a 8.1 would have been. F8LPONY how radical is your buddy's cam? If I went with something like that, how bad is the low end vs the mild cam the HIT MAN X mentioned? With either of them, would I be able to do any limited towing? Also would I need to upgrade to bigger injectors, more air allows for more fuel and I'm not sure if the stock configuration is able to handle that much HP. Thanks for yalls help and replies.

Thanks Ryan, I plan on calling allen tomorrow to order a PCM as my first step. Do have any estamates on the HP that a 212/218 cam or the 224/232 gives with tuning? Also, is the underdrive pulley worth getting or is it like the throttle body? Sorry to keep asking questions, but thanks for yalls help.
