What is needed to make an air to water intercooler

Im looking at some setups on other cars. Is a surge tank neccesary?? How did you secure the intercooler in the engine bay?? Im looking at using a fuel cell. Is there anything special that it needs to have?? Ive seen people mention using foam. What size reservoir are you using?? Where did you mount it?? I want to get a realistic idea of what Im looking at. Thanks alot

You need to talk to TIRBNR on here. He aftercooled his Vortech kit and put down some very impressive numbers/times.
