Default What is needed to make the 14's?

I have an '03 RCSB Chevrolet Silverado with the 4.8 liter and 3.42 rear. I ran at the track last week, and right off the street (30 miles there) I ran a 16.2@83mph...and, hot-lapped it to a best of 16.1@85 4 passes later. All 60's were in the 2.5 area, and were all run on 17" Avalanche wheels with 275/60/17 BFG's. I honestly think that the taller wheels/tires slowed me down a bit from a dead stop, but the truck did NOT spin a bit when I would launch...so I think the added height/weight killed it a bit. What do I need to hit the 14's? THat's all I want out of the truck..and, I seriously think it's got a 15.7-ish in it as it..with stock sized tires on it. I want LT's, and full exhaust, but I also want to keep the stock gearing in the rear, b/c I do alot of highway driving. A buddy of mine has a custom grind lunati cam that I had in my Trans Am, in his room...it was a "stealth" cam..I don't remember the specs on it off-hand...but, it made 330rwtq at 2,800rpm..and, then steadily climbed from there..so I figured that might be a decent cam for the truck..am I wrong? I don't want to do a stall converter, as I will be using the truck to pull my car, but I still want to be able to do some sort of damage on the streets with the truck....

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to any/all of them. Also-I do NOT want Nitrous..as, I want the power there all the time!!!

Thanks In Advance,
Jason

Get a Good tune!!! Nelson Permormance has a good tune! When runing at the track lose some weight like the tailgate and the spare tire. Try the healight mod by removing the left headlight straight air flow. LT's will help your time and exhaust. 3:73's will help not much difference in gas but better accelaration. They should help you het High to Mid 14's

What would I be changing with one of these tunes? I've heard that these trucks pull timing at WOT? Is it possible to run a 14, without touching anything internally in my truck? Maybe gears/exhaust and tuning?

Well alot of my friends are running trailblazer converters and they use their trucks to pull their race cars to the track.e-fans ,pacesetters, pulley, coldair, custome tune by Thunder Racing. We have x-cabs with 4.8 running 14.5s.some are running the 6.0 truck cam and some are running the 2001 ZO6 cam.

Are you in high elevation or something?

Your MPH seems really low for that truck.

Mine with no air filter and a raceweight of 4450lbs ran 15.5@89.9mph on a 2.36 60' roasting the right tire. LOL

I was going to try and run again last week but I got rained out. I was trying to see if just the addition of a tune and better traction would get me the 14 I think I can get.

I think all you need is a custom tune, ghetto fab intake, muffler, and the truck in good running condition to get a 14 unless you have lots of extra weight on the truck. At the worst you can get the stall converter and some shorter stickier tires and you'll be there.

Gears, posi, converter, and a tune will get you in the 14's.
14.5's to be exact...
been there done it..
was running 15.5's with 3.42's, open diff, stock converter, and a HPPIII, swapped out to 3.73's, Eaton posi, 2800 stall, and LS1 Edit, dropped straight into the 14's with those swapped
