True. You could possibly part it out and make profit, but after looking up E-Bay 5.3's I wouldn't bother...but I found a better deal.

That's a nice engine. Let's see what price the auction ends at.

I've seen them go for that price and lower, similar miles. A friend of bought a 29k mile LQ4 for $900 this past summer. Like Mark said you can't be in a hurry.

I'm still amazed at how cheap 5.3's go for. I've never priced them

I vote for a 408. That way he wont have to change the gears and that will save him some money.

Why would you want to? The 700r4 is essentially the same thing as the 4l60e.

I would do the 6l swap, you can usually find an lq4 for much cheaper than an lq9, but they make less power, do a cam swap, some head work, and finish it off with all the bolt ons, and you will be making considerably more power than you have now with the 4.8.

Or you could find a cheap 4.8/5.3 and slap a turbo on it, that'll probably not work in your budget though.

You can check EBay for the motor, otherwise look for junkyards near you and start making some phone calls. You can also check the classified section here, stuff goes up for sale all the time.
