VHP 216/224 .551/.551 at 115 LSA

I think this might be a good cam for me. It's my DD but i also want more performance and i take it to the strip also. No towing and rarely haul a 4wheeler. I think it will give me a nice sounding lope.

What do you guys think?

nice cam will probly want a bigger stall to get the full benifits..also not much lope out of that 115 lsa, look for 112 if it want a lopey cam

Picking a camshaft's lobe separation angle solely for the purpose of a 'lopey' idle doesn't make any sense to me. It would be like trying to pick up a hot chick in a gay bar. Read and understand the differences between the different angles and you might learn something useful. If you really want a choppy idle, have the tune bring the idle RPM down to just about the speed where the motor kills over.

The cam you're looking at from VHP is a decent one. You're looking at a no-compromise 1900-5900 power band out of the 6.0L with no other modifications except for the tune. One should always tune the PCM after a cam swap.

of coarse it will be tuned after i install a cam. and i don't have to have a choppy idle but i would like to have a cam and be able to hear it at least some. if i had to pick between better performance or the choppy lope sound then i'm going with performance. i'm trying to find a cam that i don't have to have a bigger stall.

The 112ēLSA would have better torque, but not have quite as much up high. that would be a great cam for a mild 6.0L. Use LS6 springs with that and you'll have a quiet and reliable type of setup. For referrence on torque, take a look at my dyno sheet in the dyno section. Normally the 112ēLSA would have a peakier curve, but tuning has alot to do with that.

you can have both, lope and performance with a cam on a 112lsa, plus the 112lsa will bring your powerband to come in sooner...

Wouldn't i want power higher in the RPM's? When i took my truck to the track seems like upper mid to high end i just kinda leveled off. Down load it was a raped ape with the awd.

Something I found for a good lope is to pull as much timing out as possible( I run 20 degrees at idle) and to add 12.5 degrees to idle underspeed spark table in -100 thru -250 rpms and to take away -8.5 degrees at 100 rpms to -33.5 to 300 rpms in the idle overspeed spark table. then run a little on lean side like ve table asking for +2 in fuel trim. With my setup this shakes the truck at idle so much the antenna sways back and forth, its awesome and draws a lot of attention, sounds like a pro stock.

Well i just want say that having a nice loping cam is just optional. If i have to trade performance for the lope then i will. I just want the best performance cam i can get and still keep it a DD.
