first off, i don't think this is just like all the other "what should i do with my exhaust" posts. so, please continue reading...
i'm thinking of getting a single chamber flowmaster from someone that i know, its a single pipe 3" in/3" out muffler, but i'm wondering were i should route the tailpipe (duals straight out of the back looks good but is WAY over done). right now i'm just considering letting it go out of the stock location.
interrior noise is a limiting factor.
if it matters, truck is a ECSB "Carbon" colored truck, with bone stock exhaust.
opinions?

in my opinion i think you should "dump" the exhaust under the truck so you don't see a tip. i have a single in / single out 3" muffler and tail pipe and i had them dump it past the rear axel. it dumps right next to my spare tire. how ever you do the exhaust, see if the muffler shop can put the muffler as far back as possible to make it far away from the cab of the truck. that's really the best you can do to minimize cab noise / resonance.

thanks for your input, that sounds like a good idea.
i like the idea of dumping it, but was worried about extra interrior resonance. that makes sence about putting it as far back as possible. thanks.
any other ideas?

I've got a sound clip of my exhaust. Its 3inch from the y-pipe back into a 3inch in-out single chamber dumped. I love the sound, not really throaty but really deep when cruising.

synthetic, that is a cool different version of the classic rear exit pipes.

Muffler location has a huge amount to do with resonance. Put a muffler on a reg. cab truck right under the passenger seat. Then move it back past the bed almos to the rear axle. Their is a huge difference in interior resonance. Muffler also has alot to do with it. If done right dumos can actually lesson the interior resonance, also depending on mufflers used.

not sure if you have considered a magnaflow muffler but i have an untouched/brand new 3" in/out for sale. I am in the same pickle as you right now as far as what to do about an exit. I considered a dump but decided it would look weird on a 4x4 full size truck (more of a lowered truck thing IMO). I think i might just do the stock location with a chrome/polished 3.5-4" slash tip but i dont want anyone behind my truck to see where the ugly pipe meets the polished tip. not sure what to do about that

this is a pic that i found this morning looking around this site... i LOVE the way this guy's exhaust look, but i'm unsure how i could make a single exit (pipe) split off and look that good.
