Default what did my truck just do?

My battery has been really low so I was about to go get a new one and I got in my truck and tried to start it to see if the battery had enough juice. It didnt. So I tried to start it twice and I took the keys out of the ignition and then I heard my fuel pump come on and my starter started clicking really fast, so I had to run and get my tools to disconect the battery and then it finally stopped clicking. Why did it do that? anyone know?

Is it the stock delco battery because those break cells like a ****...actually they just suck. Mine crapped out on me so i went to oreillys and dropped $50 on their house battery. It kicks ***. Havent had a problem yet and its been in for 2 years.

Although the Delco batteries i think are better than other OEM grade batteries. They do suck. And if it is the original in your truck (2001 model year) i would consider yourself very luckly to have it last that long.

Also the clicking you head was your starter solenoid playing pingpong with itself... Your battery was so dead that its voltage dropped so much from just the solenoid kicking on that it could no longer hold the starter contacts on. SO it just bounced between on and off really fast.

Mines a 2000 with 100+k miles, I just replaced my original Delco about 6 months ago, and it still started the truck, but it was getting bad. I replaced it with an Optima. I had an Optima in my 96, when it got totaled the battery literally busted, and it would still crank the truck two weeks later when I went to get all my personal stuff out of it. Thats the only replacement batteries I buy now
