Default What can I expect when I get a converter.

I am looking to get a Truck Thruster 2600HD stall for my 4L80E. I want to go more, but with towing and hauling heavy loads, thats not possible. Anyway, what can I expect when this is installed? Will it feel like the tranny is slipping when everyday driving? Feel sloppy? I never been in a vehicle with a high stall. I am looking at an alternative to regearing for my 35" tires and lift. If the converter works, it would be about $700 cheaper than doing a gear swap. Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions.

That converter is about 300mm so appx 11.8", as it being stock diameter it will not feel loose at all. Looseness comes from a smaller diameter converter as they have less mass to spin...sorta like a light weight flywheel.

That converter has a full lockup and supports factory towing capacities due to its large diameter. I drove around a heavy vehicle with a 9.5" PI converter and that was one loose *** *****, totally different from a stocker. It is a wonder how I became accustomed to the stock converters again.

Well lets say you get no wheel spin when from a dead stop to WOT...well your stock converter allows about 1700rpm of stall which is pretty poor for performance. Now with a converter swap and no wheel spin happens if all systems are go your rpms will shoot up to 2600rpms! Huge difference getting you into the powerband.

Get the highest STR Yank will give you (around 3.0 or so) that will multiply your input torque a great deal and give you a much needed powerboost. Your 4L80E will easily take the added torque.

I'd also get a TransGo shift kit for the 4L80E installed at the same time, will help to prevent inhernet problems of the 4L80E
