What are the best gaskets for headers?

I third that.
If you don't have new ones, I'd probably recommend picking some up. They're only like $22 for a pair.
Mine were somewhat flattened out after being used with my manifolds - they didn't seal all that well with my headers, so I had to go back in and redo them.

I put my headers on when I had about 25K miles, and my gaskets weren't all that great. One of them seperated, and there was some rust and corrosion on each. I'm up here in the snow belt, and I had more mileage... So I guess I can't really say for sure.
It really wasn't all that hard to slide the new gaskets in - I imagine it would only be easier with the ASM's with their down-swept primaries and no need for fancy brackets to hold the plug wires off of them. (Dynatech's drivers side header is a bit of a trouble maker in that regard). It took me about an hour to do mine.
I'm not sure which would be more valuable - an hour of time to possibly redo them, or $22 to get new ones.

the stock metal gaskets will alwasy seal better than the crap paper ones that are availble. very rarely blow out too usally dont come apart or anything unless you pull the headers if they have been on a long time
