how much power do you plan on making? the "80" is a pig. heavy and a parasitic loss beast. granted, it will hold up. i'd opt for the "65". jmo.

I would like to go 4L80e, but I too think it is a big tranny to have to be spinning. It would definitely do the job, but I would need to buy lots of other stuff too like a driveshaft if I went that route.

Black Blown 02:
With 64cc heads post intercooler (which hardly drops any boost) we are guessing around 11.0-11.5psi However, it is flowing the cfms of around 14psi (borrowed time on engine) I have a gauge that pegs at 7psi I was going to buy some real gauges, but I knew this incident would soon be coming.

BigTex:
With 69,000miles -the last 5,000 being killer, I think the clutches are fried more than anything. There is a grinding noise now too (I feel like an normal person saying that because I don't know tranny parts by heart yet ) It will rev to 4000rpm before it will shift out of first. In second it will do the same thing. I never got it to go into third. Or maybe it skipped second and went to third which is blown and never would go into overdrive because of programming -I'm not certain.

The guys that I have in mind for the job have done a 4l60e for a Z28 running 10.80e.t.'s launching on a 3000 stall. I understand that the tranny builder is pretty much the determinant of how well it works, but I am confident that these guys know their stuff.

Ya it's in AZ. The place is www.azautomasters.com AZ Automasters is the company.
The site is a little old school, but they have a good reputation from all of the Arizona F-body guys. I am always particular though and I will go down and see what they know on Monday.

I just need a tranny soon -otherwise I think FLP would be my first choice.

As long as they have experience with them and you aren't the guinea pig like I was, then you should be OK.

Sounds like you did burn up the clutches. I'm like you though ... I don't know that tranny to well. I wish I did though. I would like to get a shot tranny from someone and just rebuild it so I could get familiar with them. It's hard to get someone to trust you with their tranny having that kind of experience though.

ok, i looked through the whole thing and all i could find was that the guy Mike, who i guess is the jack of all trades there, sometimes wouldnt get the vehicles done in the time he said they would be done.

i guess the place gets alot of business... my buddy casey got his 4l60E tranny beefed up there on his roadmaster, and hasnt had any problems... i guess i'll make an apointment with them when i get back and have them do me over a weekend if possible....
