welding stainless to steel

Default welding stainless to steel

my buddy got stainless cats, can I just use my MIG to weld them into the ORY pacesetter sent? or does it have to have a certain gas. Im hopin not and its just more the heat settings.

The usual stuff to weld steel to steel is just fine. You don't need anything special to do it unless it was stainless to stainless, etc.

To weld SS to steel, you should use SS filler rod or wire.
It is possible but not recommended to weld SS with regular mild steel wire.
You would also need a Tri-Mix gas for SS Mig welding.

When were you planning on doing this?

soon, we got a lincoln welder for welding galvinized fence pipe. i believe i had used to weld stainless, its only two welds so Im not going to buy all that for just two welds, sounds like itll be fine if I weld em with what I got.

Just wondering how soon, I have a Tig welder. But, my generator is on the fritz.
