The heads were tested on a Superflow 600 flow bench using a Brzenski Racing test bore fixture. The intake ports are tested with a radiused flow plate and the exhaust ports are tested with a stub pipe. As far as flow in the lower lifts are concerned, we've found this 6.0l setup to give a generous amount of flow across the useable lift curve. If I pump up the intake's low lift numbers more, then I sacrifice flow at .500" and above. As it is, the intake ports typically peak flow at .575" lift. Also, most LS6 and 6.0l heads we've tested that were prepped by other shops averaged 2-5% less flow in the lower lifts than our 6.0L Stage 2 head. Our LS6 Stage 2 can't keep up with the low lift flow that the 317's make. The difference is due to the shape of the chambers. The 317's chambers are layed back compared to the LS6 heads. I can't comment on the flow numbers offered up by others. The bottom line here will be performance. As more heads are installed, results will follow. Stay tuned..........

Richard,

I was not bad mouthing your product by any means, it is a fine looking setup. I figured that the head was flowed on a Super Flow 600, that bench seems to give more realistic numbers. If you do not mind me asking what size valve do you put in your 317 castings? It may have been posted, as I am probably over looking it. I also like that you flowed i on a 4.030 bore rather than 4.125, as I have seen people do. I assume to increase their numbers. Anyhow, I did not want anyone to think I was knocking these heads.

I didn't take it as bad mouthing in any way. Your question is very legitamite here. As an FYI to readers of this forum I use a flow bench made by JKM. I've modifyied the original design to yield legitimate flow data as it originally reported very low cfm compared to Superflow benches and they missed a bit on the engineering. Now fixed, I really like this bench alot. Still, I make use of a Superflow bench to report mainstream testing values and to provide a secondary or backup report. I always use the same flow fixtures to be consistent between benches. The flow sheets included with our heads are usually obtained from the Superflow bench, however on occasion I may post data from the JKM. I'll be sure to make a note to add the bench model in future tests although the CNC ports vary so little, it shouldn't make much difference. Feel free to write or give us a call anytime if you want to discuss this topic.

All our Stage 2 CNC ported heads use 2.02"/1.57" valves.
