Default water pump replacement

Im lookin to replace my WP on my 01 LQ9 that is in my 2500HD. Ive never worked on these new motors except for bolt ons. My question is what is the procedure to replacing a wp and since I use my truck as a DD/tow rig, should I get a higher volume pump or stick with a stock replacement? Any help appreciated.

Stock replacement pump is more than adequate, as for replacement, it's very straight forward, hardest part is getting the fan clutch off. If search this forum for "water pump" there should be a thread or two floating around about some member's recent water pump repairs. I saw one just last week that outlined a few of our methods to remove the fan clutch

You might grab some new bolts because if yours had a slow leak, it has probably corroded a few of them.

Buy a subscription to ALLDATA. It's worth it. It tells you exactly how to do everything.
