Default Water leak - Easy fix or dumb idea?

I have 98 Z71 with an old 350 Vortec for my daily driver. It has a slow water leak that I think is coming from behind the intake manifold. I was told that the intake gasket on these had a tendency to leak here. Anybody ever try to stop a leak like this with something like Bar's Leaks? Will it hurt anything for me to try?

I had a 97 that had a leak in the back half of the manifold, I would jsut go ahead and have it fixed becasue it will jsut get worse and cause alot more problems.

Yeah, that's the smart thing to do. I just heard it was no easy job to get the whole intake off (top and Bottom). Plus the gasket set ain't cheap. I guess I'll get off my lazy butt and get to work.

yep, i did mine under warranty and you know how much those guys charge but the bill was like $800.00 becaue they had to take the heads off to get to the leak.

Ok, I just got sick to my stomach. I hope I don't have to pull the heads. Guess I better change the oil in the Camaro. Sounds like I may be putting a few miles on it in the near future.

The intake manifold actually isn't as hard as some would make it out to be, I know of some techs that can do them in 30 minutes.

You can also install a 7 pound cap instead of the 15 pound one and try some stop leak for now. I have used them for 15 years on a few cars with no problems and the lower pressure extends hose and seal life too especailly in older cars and trucks.

I think I'm gonna try and tackle the intake this weekend and hope that I don't have to pull the heads. I never thought of putting a 7 pound cap on there. May do that anyway to help prevent further leaks in the future. Thanks for the info guys.
