Walbro 255 fuel pump ??? (after install)

Default Walbro 255 fuel pump ??? (after install)

I just installed a walbro 255 pump GSS340M and now when i get in the truck i cant just turn the key and start it like normally now i have to turn the key on for a few seconds and wait and then the starter will kick over a few times and then it will start up? anyone else have this issue with the swap?

happened to mine too. It's a faulty check valve on the pump. I have run mine for over a year with no problems exept on start up.

well that sucks... you buy something new and you kinda expect it to work properly.

That could definately be the problem. I was told when I purchased my Walbro pump that I could have an issue with extended cranking during start up. I purchased my pump from an authorized Walbro dealer and he stated that I might have the same problem you are describing. That is why Walbro does not list a part # for our trucks. This is what I was told anyway. Fortunately I did not have that problem with my truck. FYI!

I always heard it was the check valve too, my Walbro thankfully doesn't have that problem...

WOW. now my check engine light is on... who knows why this time. all i did was change the pump
