Default Would like to See Pics of the Nelson Harness.

If you can, when you get the nelson performance harness, take some pics? Close ups of the solenoids too?

On my next harness the wires are def. going to be soldered. When and if I get the Nelson harness, I will take some pics, no problem.

My fans have failed to turn on twice over the past few weeks, almost causing me to overheat. Hopefully it's just some loose connections of the terminals since their kinda loose and getting some oxidation on them. I'm going to solder everything together and see how that holds me.

Well, its getting worse now. After my connections decided to fall off and I fix that, and after the pins come out of the VSC itself my truck was still getting hot in traffic. I checked all those things and they were ok. Then I looked at the little cover that goes over the fuse and it was melted on. I finally pryed it open and low and behold the WHOLE fuse melted inside of the rubber cover, I mean it is destroyed. This is turning into a headache.

Damn thats another fuse that bites the dust.....

Can you tell us your exact setup? Do you have the power and ground running directly to the battery? Solid connections?

Yeah I do. Now that you mention it, it isnt the best idea, but thats what the directions said to do . No worries though, my whole new unit from Allen arrives Wed. I was talking to him, and his seems very straight forward comes with directions and all connections and one for the PCM controlled fans. I cant wait to get it. I'll keep you guys informed.

p.s Allen was telling me that flex-a-lite told him that on a few batches the fuse wasnt getting a good connection and it was arching causing the rubber around the fuse to melt, and the fuse itself.

Default Fuse Melt

I have the newer VSC and on my second fuse holder. Flex sent me a new wiring kit and all is well now, and it has been worked hard. Flex told me durring the molding process plastic got into the spade sockets causing poor connection creating resistance and heat. I'm good to go now.
Don't forget pics and details of nelsons harness.

It's strange that FAL says to go right to the battery. Unless that's something to cover their @ss in case someone tries to connect up to a 16g wire or something. You should have no issues pulling 12V from the brass or copper bar in the fuse box. That's where I'm getting mine.

Also, a ground is a ground - My negative is a lug on the firewall.

How about the little adjuster **** recessed in the VSC? I only had a FAL VSC here for a week or so before I sold it... but the little **** looked like a simple potentiometer. I know those can collect dust or moisture and start to crap out pretty easy. (Ever notice how a radio may get a very "scratchy" volume **** if it's been sitting around for a while?) It's the same effect. To clear it up, you can turn the potentiometer from side to side, 5, 8, maybe 10 times to make sure the internal contacts are getting a good clean connection.

If that clears it up, I'd probably put a piece of electrical or duct tape over it to seal it off from 'the elements'.

The little **** recessed inside the VSC is a temp switch that controlls when the fans kick on via a temp probe. Its not very accurate because you cant dial it in at a precise temp, thats why I had my PCM tuned for it.
