Default volant ram air scoup, water

I put the ram air scoup on for the volant cold air box. Its the one that attaches to the bottom of the box and then is bolted to the frame rail which leave the soup sticking out under the bumper.

I didnt give it any thought until today when i washed the car. It filles up with water, I guess it the water that runs off the hood down over the grill....

Just wonding if you all did anything about this or if i have mounted wrong.

I was thinking about drilling a few small holes in the back of the scoup to let the rain water drain out... what do u all think?

My scoop is a bit behind the valance and i've never had a problem with it. When it rains i've gone driving and into puddles just see if water enters the filter box, it dosen't.

I've noticed water in mine after a wash, but so far I haven't seen any water collect while it's raining. I haven't done anything about it so far, I'm just sure to "mop up" the water that collects after the car wash.

I dont think water can get into the air box... just makes you a little uneasy knowing that scoup is full of water you know....

My Volant has a hole for drainage at the back of the scoop where it makes the turn up to the airbox. I have the older style Volant, FWIW.

Hum.... I took some photos yesterday but they suck... and its dark now. I dont see that a small hole would affect the power any

You hole in the center or in one of the corners.

It's centered on the 'heel' of the scoop so any water coming in the front would just run right out the back. I personally don't see how it could hurt your air-flow to cut a small hole at the bottom rear of the scoop.
